Jul 22, 2016 The two main reasons to enable and use Find My Mac are to help recover a lost or stolen Mac and to eliminate the worry of misplacing it around the house. For most people, it's a no-brainer — just open System Preferences iCloud and select the Find My Mac button. OS X is Unix-based so there is only one big filesystem visible to the user, even if it is distributed across several partions. This also applies to external drives which are accessible under /Volumes/NAME-OF-DRIVE. The individual user home folders (which contain all the nice stuff like Downloads, Documents etc.) are available in /Users, each user has his/her own directory there with a name. It's called the Finder because it helps you to find and organize your files.
